Summer = Happiness
Ok, I suck at LJ lately. Not sure why.

Quick updates:
-Of course, last weekend of school, I make out with a stage 5 clinger. Go me. Fuck yourself, Loyola.
-I moved out on Saturday but I have to go BACK to school on Thursday for rehearsal/mass. Fuck me.
-I need a job. Badly. Fuck my life?
-Memorial Day Weekend is in a week and a half = I GET TO GO TO GEORGIA YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYYYY!!!!!
-I need to start going to the gym again, I'm getting too big for my clothes!! Eeeeeek!!
-Lately I've come to the realization that I'm really boring? Oh well. I'll just surround myself with fun peple to make up for it. :)

Bed time! I think I'm working out with my mom tomorrow morning... Oy vey...

Graduation dinner suggestions
Hi everyone.

Even though I've spent the entirety of my college career here at UMD, I still have no idea about where to go for a nice, after-graduation dinner with my family. Dinner will be held after my departmental graduation ceremony on Friday (which starts at 4pm). I'm assuming that we will be making reservations for around 6 pm. We will be a party of four, made up of myself, my brother, and my parents.

Limitations: my parents and brother don't do well with ethnic foods such as Thai or Indian, so those are out. My brother is a very picky eater, but as long as steak or chicken tenders are on the menu, he'll be okay. My mother is diabetic and wants me to find somewhere that will not have a menu that looks like omg!carbs.

I would prefer the restaurant to be as near to College Park proper as possible. I don't think they would mind going on the beltway, so I was possibly thinking of going to Montgomery Mall (California Pizza Kitchen or Legal Seafoods) as a last resort.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Schengen zone.
Hello everyone. I have a question about how the Schengen zone will affect my travel plans.

I'm currently living in Bulgaria (not yet a member of the Schengen zone) and have a valid residency card. This summer I plan to take a bus to Germany to stay with my boyfriend. I will have a student visa for Spain (which I will travel to by bus) for a program starting in October.

Since (a) I will have a visa for Spain (b) there are no internal borders, does it really matter how long I stay in Germany? I've been anxiously fretting over how to avoid 'overstaying' in Germany, but it seems like I could only be faulted for this at an external border -- and that this wouldn't even be a problem if I have a valid visa for a Schengen country.

Am I right, or am I being too optimistic? Any thoughts?

I'm transferring to UM this fall and currently looking for off-campus housing.

This evening I'm going to look at a condo in Presidential Towers. It seemed like the perfect place, but now I'm not so sure. After I made the appointment I heard that the entire building is infested with cockroaches and mice. Has anyone lived there, or do you live there now? Any horror stories, or are the rumors unsubstantiated?

Thanks for any input. I don't want to be paying over $1k a month to live with cockroaches!

*eugh*
(if this type of entry was posted before, my bad).

Well, when i was young, I saw the movie, "indianna jones and the temple of doom." In that movie, some desis there were represented there as eating monkey brains and bugs. I recently found out that I wasn't the only hater of the movie's depiction. Thank you to to YT for that kal penn interview.

So, name something that pisses you off about that people have done, said, or showed in your eyes, as demeaning towards desis. Intentional or not.

It's Here!
Hello Everyone!

As promised, DiscoverGerry.net is now up and running! YAY! Thanks to [info]winterlillies ] and [info]idrilelendil (as well as co-owner [info]77starshine and myself), we finally bring you another fully interactive site for everything Gerry Butler!

I'll give you guys a quick run-through of what to expect when you head over to the site: The main page will give you the latest news on Gerry and any updates made to the site. Also, the main page features quotes, current projects, an affiliate spotlight, and quick links to important sections.

The Gerry section is all about...well, duh! Available features include a full biography (subject to change, of course!) and filmography. Coming soon will be pages for quick facts, awards & nominations, and quotes--both from Gerry and from his peers.

Media includes press coverage (news and article archives), CHAT ROOM, and graphics (icons and wallpapers) donated by the members to be used on the forum or online journals like this one. Coming soon to the media section: audio and video additions!

The links section enables people from other sites to associate with us directly, as well as gives the browsers the chance to see who DiscoverGerry is affiliated with.

The site section shares DiscoverGerry's story [how we came to be] and allows users to become more aquainted with the owners, [info]77starshine and myself.

Of course, there is also access to DiscoverGerry's ever-growing gallery and forum (which some of you might know is going on 3 1/2 years old! LOL!).

Bale Fan Here, Noob to the community

I'm so happy I found this community.  I'm pretty new to LJ and haven't gotten fully up to speed yet, but I'm getting there!

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Rhiannon and I've been a fan of Christian Bale since I saw Newsies in the 3rd grade (roughly, since I was nine and I'm 23 now).  My favorite role of his is probably Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, but I've enjoyed watching him in every film of his I've seen.

I can't wait for The Dark Knight to come out and I am also anxiously awaiting Public Enemies, where he plays my third cousin Melvin Purvis!

I've been abroad since January, and I am returning to the U.S. next month. I purchased my plane tickets through Expedia.com, so I am leaving Spain and flying to London via Iberia, and then I am taking British Airways back the to U.S. It's all part of the same itinerary, though. Therefore, will Iberia honor BA's luggage rules? I've heard that you should plan your baggage regarding whoever is taking you over the ocean. BA has less strict rules and would allow me to have more weight, so I would prefer them. Still, I don't want to be fined from the beginning by Iberia. I've tried to contact them, but I've received little help since I didn't book it FROM them and used Expedia.

Also, I land in Chicago and then have a connecting flight to Tulsa. Will I have to get my bags, go through customs, and then recheck them before going to Tulsa? My layover is not very long, so I would prefer for them to go straight to Tulsa and then deal with customs, but from what I've heard, you have to do customs as soon as you enter the country. Is that true?

Finally, what should I expect from customs? Do I really have to claim every, single thing? I really haven't bought a lot here, but what I have is pretty misc..

Thanks for your help!

Switzerland: Passport Stamp?
Hi everyone! I have a quick (and maybe stupid/obvious) question that I hope someone could help me with regarding passport stamps in Switzerland. If I'm coming from a Schengen country (in this case, Italy), will Switzerland stamp my passport upon entry? If not, can I request it without problems? I need a non-Schengen country stamp to "deactivate" my student visa so that I can travel beyond my student visa's expiration date without issues (at least, this is the conclusion my program director has come up with.) Has anyone with a Schengen visa remained in the zone beyond the expiration date without running into problems with authority, etc? I'd appreciate any advice on the matter!
